The Good Life
God has used significant experiences, people and events to form and develop us as His people. Even before we were believers we can see how the hand of God was present in our lives.
Ben grew up in Oklahoma to loving parents who raised a blended family of four children and taught him many foundational truths that influenced the man he is today. Ben was raised in a very performance driven environment of sports and academic achievement. After attending the University of Oklahoma, Ben headed to Dallas where his first big job opportunity as an architect brought him. Focused on a life of performance and achievement, Ben pursued all things that the world would call "successful". After achieving heights in his career, driving around an expensive sports car, and pursuing relationships with the social elite, it all came to a screeching halt. After a break up of a relationship that was focused on self pleasure than glorifying God, Ben fell to his knees and prayed to the Lord to work in his life. He called an old colleague of his, that was a follower of Christ.....
Laci was raised by a community of family members, as grandparents, aunts and uncles, who shaped her in her formative years. Quickly labeled "the smart one", Laci pursued academic achievement as part of her identity and acceptance by others. After her parents divorced, she began to question everything from love to God. Believing God was an emotional experience that was out of touch with her life, she pursued life filled with an inner loneliness and isolation from others. After a co-worker invited her to listen to a radio cast by their pastor, she gave her life to Christ while stuck in traffic jam. The next six years involved being shaped and molded by incredible Christian community. Strong in her faith, one day she got a call from a previous colleague...
Two Become One
Working with Laci, Ben had a front row seat to see a dramatic change as God worked in her life. For years she had invited him to church and encouraged him with biblical truth. After the recession they went separate ways and assumed they would move forward in life seeking different paths. After that phone call, Laci encouraged Ben to find biblical community. As Ben grew in his faith, he began to think of Laci more and more. He prayed to the Lord if he should step out and pursue her as more than a friend with clear intentions. Six years later, with premarital equipping, serving a great group of young adults in student ministries and an incredible foundation group in their lives, this couple has been spurred on to share their journey as believers as a testimony of how the Lord has and continues to work in their lives.
